Authorities began investigating Stevens after they received a cybertip regarding an image on a commercial website that depicted child pornography.

It all started when Stevens entered a contest to become Paris Hilton's best friend in March 2008. Individuals who entered the contest were required to create an account which included information about the person and an image to be associated with the person's account.

The image that was uploaded by Stevens onto the website depicted a nude toddler in a compromising position with a nude adult male.

Stevens confessed to possessing the child pornography found on the computers seized from his residence. At his arraignment hearing in May 2009, Stevens pleaded guilty to both distributing and possessing child pornography and also admitted to the distribution of the image on the contest Web page.
