According to reports, Othman had repeatedly stabbed her husband in the chest with the knife while he was asleep. The victim sustained several injuries from the attack. Ismiatou Othman was charged with aggravated assault of a family member. She received a two-year deferred adjudication probated sentence on the charge, but has since violated her probation.

Ismiatou Othman is believed still to be in the Houston area.
