Man and dog found dead in burned car

A man and his dog were found dead inside a burning car on Sunday morning.

An HPD patrol office noticed the car on fire in an apartment complex parking lot on Elmside around 8:55 a.m. After the fire was put out, firefighters noticed the man in the driver's seat and his dog on the floor of the backseat.

The man's identity is pending the report from the Harris County Medical Examiner's Office, but police said he appeared to be in his 20s.

There are no known witnesses to the fire. Houston police are urging anyone with information to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
