Mutual friends broke up the fight, but Thompson got a kitchen knife from inside the apartment. She approached Ryan, who was standing in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

According to reports, Ryan called Thompson a vulgar name and then, she stabbed him in the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Thompson was taken into custody at the scene. She later confessed to the incident.
