Fake-cop harasses man in Brazoria County

This crime is strange. The victim wasn't robbed, roughed-up or even threatened. Instead, he was left confused.

On July 27, a man impersonating a police officer stopped a victim outside of Alvin and searched his car. According to the report, a white Ford Crown Victoria pulled the victim over at 3100 block of SH 35, just outside of Alvin.

The reason the victim thought the man was an officer was because suspect had a gold badge on his shirt and was wearing tan pants with an off-color white piping with a gold outline and a brown shirt. The suspect told the victim that the car he was driving was stolen. The victim knew the car he was driving wasn't stolen and tried to show the alleged fake-officer paperwork to prove this.

Instead of letting the guy go, the suspect made the victim produce his identification and consent to letting him search the vehicle. The victim did allow for the search and upon completion, the suspect got into his own car and drove off in what the victim calls "careless and fast".

At no time during the contact did the suspect identify himself by name or agency. A check of the surrounding area did not reveal an agency with uniforms matching the description provided by the reporting party.

The victim said the man was wearing a brown shirt with gold piping coming from the shoulders and going down the sleeves. He wasn't wearing a name tag, but did have a gold badge. The suspect's pants were tan with an off color white piping with a gold outline. The suspect is approximately 6'00" and weighs approximately 250 lbs.

No further information was available at the time this report was taken. If anyone has contact with the suspect matching the description, or the vehicle described in this report please contact the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office @ 281-756-2392 or Investigator Richard Rosser @ 281-756-2218.
