Baytown police report Jermaine Jones, 30, stabbed his common-law wife early Sunday morning and fled.

The woman was taken to San Jacinto Methodist Hospital. She's expected to recover.

About an hour later, Jones got into a crash in Beaumont.

He reportedly told a wrecker driver at the scene that he was wanted for attempted murder in Baytown.

The state trooper who was working the crash took Jones into custody.

He's been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
