Dawn Brown: March 2008 ArchivesWith a high pressure system off to our East, a Southeasterly flow has settled in across the Gulf Coast. With winds pumping in from the Southeast, humidity will be on the rise the next several days. Temperatures will also hover around 80 degrees for the afternoon highs. Saturday, a frontal system will move closer to us, and then remain stationary. This will allow showers and possibly thunderstorms to fire up along that boundary. Currently the c... It may be a little breezy Sunday afternoon. A cold front is passing through overnight Saturday into Sunday. Most of us will be waking up to cooler temperatures, (in the 40s on the northshore), Sunday morning. It will also be breezy until late afternoon. Expect afternoon highs Sunday in the upper 60s. It looks like rain doesn't enter the picture until later on in the week---with just a 20% chance of showers Wednesday and Thursday, poss... Overall, a nice Holiday Weekend. Another great weekend day for outdoor festivities. No rain in the forecast, and much milder temperatures than what we saw Saturday. Expect afternoon highs in the 60s. We have a chance for some isolated thunderstorms to develop Monday afternoon into Tuesday. ...If you feel like Spring Forward is arriving earlier... you're right! Last year, Daylight Saving Time began the second week of March due to the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This is the second year it's started the second Sunday of March instead of the first Sunday in April. Basically, the government decided to extend daylight saving time from March until November. It used to run from April to October. Anyway, the gist of the entire government pol... More sunshine today with increasing clouds this afternoon... highs in the mid to upper 70s. Monday, a storm system approaching will bring a moderate risk of severe weather to the forecast region Monday night into Tuesday morning. The severe weather could include heavy rainfall, lightning, damaging winds and a slight risk for tornadoes. We have a 30 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms Monday afternoon, increasing to an 80 percent c... Boy, it was beautiful this morning. We are seeing some clouds on the northshore, and there is a stationary front in Northern Lousiana. But, overall, we are looking at a very mild Saturday afternoon forecast. Not much wind to speak of, lots of sunshine, and afternoon highs in the low 70s. Sunday, the breeze will pick up out of the Southeast, and temperatures will warm to the upper 70s. So, look for it to be a little bit more humid and more clou... |
