Dawn Brown: January 2008 ArchivesStarting off between 20 and 25 degrees warmer on this Tuesday morning compared to Monday morning. Good news is... no fog outside this morning. We'll see a mixture of sun and clouds today... windy conditions in advance of a front that will push through tonight into Wednesday. Clearing, windy and cold in the overnight hours. Mostly clear on Wednesday with a high in the mid 50s. We're watching a storm that is approaching Thursday... Clear, dry skies led overnight temperatures to dip to below freezing in some northshore locations in the overnight hours. With tidal lakes and coastal waters significantly warmer than temperatures, low clouds and patchy dense fog developed this morning across the area. This will burn off this morning, giving way to mostly clear skies, and warming temperatures. In advance of a frontal system approaching from the west, expect temperature... A persistant stratus deck over our area is finally giving way this afternoon to mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will warm up to the mid 50s this afternoon. Some spots on the northshore could hit the low 60s. Evening parades will be in the 50s falling to the 40s. No rain Monday, highs in the mid to upper 60s. Tuesday, dense sea fog is possible Tuesday morning in advance of another front. ...With a heavy cloud bank piling up moisture in and around Lake Pontchartrain, we are getting reports of moderate mist and drizzle across the area. This will continue through the mid-afternoon Saturday. A stationary boundary remains across SE Louisiana. Tonight, expect the cloud cover to begin to break up as a strong high pressure stabilizes the atmosphere and allows for some sinking air. This will lead to more sunshine on Sunday and temperature... Take full precautions on the northshore overnight, as temperatures could be in the mid 20s. Wrap exposed pipes, protect pets, plants and people. River parishes are also under a freeze warning, pets and sensitive vegetation are at risk. A freeze warning is in effect for southshore parishes in and around the New Orleans metro area and river parishes. Temperatures are expected to drop to the lows 30s Sunday morning. Expect temperatures to drop to the mid 20s on the northshore and 30s on the southshore. A freeze watch is in effect for the southshore, southern portions of Terrebonne, Lafourche, Jefferson, Plaquemines and St. Bernard are not in the watch area. However, with the upper level low exiting to the Northeast, we are seeing breezy conditions on this Sunday. Mostly clear tonight with a chance for some patchy frost on the northshore. At this time of year... warm gulf air allows for sea fog to develop in this region. Warmer air moves over cooler lake and marshy waters... and thick fog can develop. We saw that this morning. Most folks woke up to a coating of heavy mist. Be aware, this heavy fog could develop once again Sunday night and Monday morning.
