Tomorrow, afternoon highs will be in the mid 80s as well. I do expect the breeze to pick up Sunday afternoon, with winds up to 18 miles per hour out of the SE. The light to moderate rainfall that fell across the area overnight continues to move across the southern parishes... but some of the northern parishes and the metro area may see some sunshine this afternoon. Temperatures will still be on the chilly side, but winds have calmed down... so the afternoon high of 52 will feel like 52. As of ... As cold air continues to move into the region, a mix of sleet and or snow is possible in some northern parishes close to the Mississippi State line. A freeze warning is in effect for Southern Mississippi parishes and Louisiana parishes including Washington, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and St. Helena. With a band of precipitation moving in at around 2pm, we are getting reports of light sleet across the southshore. Reports have been coming in from Norco, Kenner, Metairie and right here outside WWL studios in the French Quarter. Sleet is a form of frozen precipitation. It can occur two ways. According to records at Armstrong International Airport, the latest freeze on record is April 8, 1971. Coupled with that, we are expecting rain to move in Saturday...
