Heavy Rain in Metro Area

As of 5pm... a band of heavy showers and thunderstorms will begin moving through the metro area... showers will continue through the evening hours.

Some parts of the metro area could reach up to a half an inch of rain.

Lingering showers will last through the evening and in the overnight hours as a frontal system continues to move closer to SE Lousiana.

Weekend Showers and Thunderstorms

Increasing chance of showers and thunderstorms this Saturday afternoon. We've bumped up the chance of showers to 50% for the afternoon... increasing to a 70% chance overnight Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Lots of moisture will help feed into a a large frontal system approaching from SW Lousiana. The tail end of the front will slowly drag across SE Lousiana later tonight into Sunday providing a chance of showers through the weeken...



Another Warm One...

We hit 71 at the airport this Sunday... two degrees below normal for Kenner. Temperatures will really start warming up Monday with mid 70s expected for Monday, and temperatures climbing to upper 70s by the middle of the week.

A stable weather pattern will set up for the beginning part of the week, with another storm system setting up for the end of the week.

What a wonderful weekend. Plenty o' sunshine for St. Patrick's Day revellers with a high of 64 this Saturday. Temperatures will warm to around 70 for your Sunday forecast.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning... 'til 1am

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes until 1am.

A line of possibly severe thunderstorms is moving toward the northeast at about 40 miles per hour. These storms are moving toward the towns of Larose... Galliano.. Cut Off... and the city off Houma.

Damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, deadly cloud to ground lightning... and hail are possible with this storm.

Clouds continue to stream in ahead of an upper level low located over Texas. And with the clouds, we have a threat of rain. A 30% chance of showers in your Monday forecast... but expect temperatures to be in the mid 70s. Tuesday, the chance for isolated showers continues, the main threat of showers and thunderstorms will be associated with the low moving through Wednesday into Thursday.

Cloudy Sunday... Rain in 7 Day

A low pressure system over northern Texas is streaming moisture into our region, thus more cloud cover this Sunday. Temperatures continue to be on the mild side, however, afternoon highs will vary due to cloud cover. Many areas on the northshore are seeing mid to upper 70s this afternoon, while more clouds on the southshore are keeping temperatures in the low 70s.

Cloudy skies will continue to be part of the forecast through Wednesday....

Today temperatures will feel like the 40s until the middle of the afternoon... when the winds begin to die down across the area. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 50s.

We have a stable weather pattern in place for most of the week, bring ing sunshine and clouds and afternoon highs in the 70s.

An upper level system moving across the area later in the week will lead to more cloud cover.

Plenty of sunshine for your Saturday forecast. Highs in the mid 60s. The dry air makes it feel very comfortable as well.

A few changes tonight. Cold air filtering in behind a front will create temperatures in the mid 30s tonight on the northshore, 40s on the southshore. Also, the breeze is picking up behind the front, so it will feel colder as well.

Expect wind chills in the 40s tomorrow with a strong NW breeze up to 15 miles...
