Beautiful Day

After a strong low pressure system and associated cold front passed through the area overnight, expect bright and sunny skies for Sunday. Afternoon highs in the 70s.

The stable air mass will be in play until Wednesday night when another system pushing across the country provides another chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Severe Threat Diminishes...

As of 12:30am, the threat of severe weather is diminishing across SE Lousiana.

The line of showers ahead of a cold front is producing rainfall and isolated thunderstorms, but no severe weather.

A cold front will pass through SE Lousiana overnight, expect plenty of sunshine Sunday... really a beautiful day. Afternoon highs will be in the 70s. Brilliant sunshine behind this cold front, and a large mass of dry air. Expect the sunn...



Midnight Update

Watching a line of showers and thunderstorms from Tangipahoa parish down through Baton Rouge out toward the coast. In St. Helena Parish, a thunderstorm is possibly producing hail.

No watches or warnings have been issued for SE Lousiana yet. We will update you on the internet and on Channel 4 if a watch or warning is issued.

Wind Advisory...

The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a wind advisory for SE Lousiana until 3am Sunday. Strong southerly winds from 25 to 40 miles per hour are expected.

Strong winds can make driving difficult and even hazardous for high profile vehicles. Wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour can also bring down large tree limbs. Use extra caution during a high wind event.

Still a Slight Risk... Overnight Hours...

The Storm Prediciton Center in Norman Oklahoma still has SE Louisiana at a slight risk for severe weather in the overnight hours, with possibly damaging winds in excess of 58 miles per hour, hail and an isolated tornado possible.

Right now, the line ahead of the cold front is moving through east Texas with a severe weather threat for Northern Lousiana near Shreveport. That line will be moving east through Arkansas and Northern Mississi...



Warm, Then Cold, Then Warm Again!!!

Starting off with highs in the lows 60s this Saturday. Mild temperatures this afternoon will give way to windy and cold conditions tonight.

A cold front is pushing through. A stray shower is possible, but mainly we're seeing strong winds switching from the Southwest switching to the Northwest later tonight. Wind NW winds from 10-20 miles per hour tonight, it would be a good idea to bundle up once again for parades tonigh...



Another Warm Up... Then Cool Down

Temperatures will once again warm up to the 70s by Tuesday, only to turn around and drop to the 50s by Valentine's Day.

The weather did hold out for weekend Carnival parades, temperatures in the upper 50s for Sunday.

As far as the rain forecast, a low pressure system and associated cold front will move through the area Tuesday, the best chance of rain is Monday night into Tuesday.

No Rain on Your Parade!

The good news is.... the chance of rain continues to diminish across SE Louisiana this weekend. A dry front brought cooler temperatures to the region overnight, and expect afternoon highs this Saturday in the low 50s.

Overnight temps will be on the chilly side as well, mid 30s on the northshore, low 40s on the southshore. We will see some more cloud cover for your Sunday forecast, with afternoon high temperatures in the upper 50s to 60...



Where is the Sun?

Temperatures are running 5-10 degrees warmer today than Saturday, but clouds continue to spill into the region, providing for overcast skies for the southshore this morning. Afternoon highs today should be in the mid to upper 50s.

Cold air continues to funnel into the region from the north. That will continue for the next few days until a change in the upper air pattern allows a ridge to build in, bringing fair weather and warmer tempe...



High pushing rain to our South

We still have clouds out there, keeping temperatures in the 40s and edging into the 50s today... but rain is off the coast. That southern stream of moisture, courtesy of El Nino is streaming clouds and rain into the Gulf today. Florida is getting some rain today. A surface high pressure is building in, keeping the atmosphere stable across the SE. That means we have a 5 day pattern of dry weather.
