There have been a few severe thunderstorm warnings and an Urban flood advisory Sunday late afternoon/early evening. St Charles parish had both. Some hail was reported also in MS. Here are some storm reports so far....

Rain chances will increase this week. Some downpours and heavy rain possible this week as well. Rain chances 60% Monday & Tuesday, 50% Wednesday, and 40%Thursday to Saturday.
Highs will be in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.

Rain chances not that high over weekend. 20-30% with highs in the low to mid 90s. Rain chances will increase during the work week with thunderstorms more likely.
Tropics quiet still. A new Dr Gray/Dr Klotzbach forecast is due Aug 4th.

Some slightly drier air made it's way into the area lowering rain chances for Thursday. We will keep rain chances at 20% for isolated showers or thunderstorms Friday and over the weekend. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s.
It appears that next will we will have increasing rain chances and the possibility of heavy rain.

A weak front will hang across central Louisiana and help to keep moisture in place for a chance for showers or thunderstorms the rest of this week and into the weekend. Rain chances will be 30% Thursday & Friday, 40% Saturday & Sunday & Monday, and 50% Tuesday & Wednesday.
Highs will be in the low 90s.

Rain chances can be expected in the next 7days. Rain chances really increase late in the weekend and into next week. Keep the umbrella handy . We are running 11.42" below normal for the year and .32" below normal for the month.

Isol'd showers & thunderstorms developed Monday afternoon. Dewpoints will continue to rise overnight into Tuesday so humidity will increase.
Isolated showers & thunderstorms will continue Tuesday and becoming more spotty on Wednesday. Highs will be in the low 90s.

With the dry air in place, we could threaten some record lows north of the lake and even south of the lake. Here are the record lows for Monday morning:

Baton Rouge - 64
Biloxi - 62
Armstrong Int'l - 69
Audubon - 70.
Forecast lows north of the lake 61-66 and south of the lake 68-73.

Drier air will continue to move in Sunday with slightly lower humidity. Lows north of the lake Sunday with be in the mid 60s, near record lows around Baton Rouge, McComb, and even Gulfport/Biloxi areas. Lows south of the lake will be in the lower 70s. It will still be hot with highs around 90. Isolated showers or thunderstorms (10-20%) mainly along coastal areas and coastal waters for Sunday.

Rain chances lowering this afternoon to 20% for isolated thunderstorms with drier air moving in. Highs will be in the upper 80s to near 90.

Still a good 60% chance for showers and thunderstorms rest of today..some could have heavy downpours. Overnight rain chances still around 30% for spotty thunderstorms. The approach of a front on Saturday will keep rain chances around 40% as drier air tries to make it in. It is more likely late Saturday and into Sunday will the air become slightly drier with a 10% rain chance on Sunday.

Still a pattern through Friday with scattered thunderstorms starting in the morning along the coast then working their way north inland during the afternoon. Some could produce heavy downpours that may produce a quick 1-2" which may cause some street flooding.
Some slightly drier air may start to move in on Saturday and more so on Sunday. Rain chance Saturday 30-40% and 10% on Sunday.

High temperatures will be in the mid 90s over the weekend. Any relief with rain will be a 20% chance for isolated showers or thunderstorms. The heat index will be from 100-110.
Tropics continue to be quiet. With El Nino now in place, stronger wind shear in the Atlantic Basin may help to keep this hurricane season from being above average.

The July Pontchartrain Astronomy Society Meeting will be held at the St. Charles Parish Library/Planetarium on Today July 10th at 7:30 PM. After a night and morning of rain and thunderstorms..a few more are passing through during the afternoon.
More rain is possible overnight tonight through Wednesday morning with rain/thunderstorms tapering off Wednesday afternoon.
There still could be strong thunderstorms or heavy downpours.

A 30% chance for rain overnight and Tuesday early morning. Rain chance will increase to at least 50% Tuesday afternoon. This will help keep high temperatures to the upper 80s to lower 90s.
Rain chances will stay at 40-50% most of this week.

A record high at Audubon was reached Saturday at 99. Armstrong Int'l miss the record by one with a high Saturday of 97. A few thunderstorms reached severe in MS with some small hail reported in Diberville and wind damage in Biloxi.
Another Heat Advisory is in effect for today. Rain chances will be 20-30% chance for spotty thunderstorms. Record highs still possible in the mid to upper 90s. Records for Kenner 97 and Audubon 9...

Once again the area is under a Heat Advisory. Record highs are possible also with highs today in the upper 90s. Records today 98 at Kenner and 97 at Audubon. Rain chance 20% for isolated thunderstorms, but because of the heat and amount of moisture in the air, any thunderstorm can become strong.

Severe thunderstorm warnings have gone up today for Terrebonne, Orleans, Jefferson, St Tammany, Washington parishes and MS counties. Small hail reported in the Houma area and the CBD. Some street flooding is possible with the slow moving thunderstorms this afternoon.
A tornado warning was up for Hancock county for a possible tornado near Pearlinton.
