We will still be dealing with rain chances for most of the week, but they will go down.

40-50% chance for Tuesday with highs in the mid 80s.
30% chance for Wednesday with highs in the upper 80s.
40% chance for Thursday with highs in the mid 80s.
20% chance for Friday with highs near 90.
Dry & less humid for the weekend.

Coastal Flood Warning Continues

The coastal flood warning is still up for Hancock county, Orleans, St. Bernard, and Plaquemines parishes until Saturday evening. Tides are expected to run 1-2' above normal.

The suface low is forecast to track inland Saturday just over the area which may keep the brunt of the heaviest rain just to our east. If the track is just to our west, then the majority of the area will see heavy rainfall.

Coastal Flood Warning/Wet Weekend?

A Coastal Flood Warning is up until Saturday evening for coastal Hancock county, Orleans, St Bernard, and Plaquemines parishes for tides to run 1-3' above normal.

The upper low and weak surface low continues to move towards the Louisiana coast. Rain chances for Friday will be 30% in the morning and 60% during the day. Some downpours are possible.

SATURDAY EVENING FOR COASTAL AREAS FROM HANCOCK COUNTY TO LOWER LAFOURCHE PARISH. ALSO INCLUDED IS THE SOUTHSHORE OF ORLEANS PARISH. TIDES ARE EXPECTED TO RUN 1-2' ABOVE NORMAL.

National Weather Service Open House

This Saturday May 16th from 10am to 4pm is the first ever public open house for our Local National Weather Service Office in Slidell. The office is located at 62300 Airport Rd in Slidell.

The open house will include a tour of the office, a brief slide show, and a chance to meet and speak to the staff. Outside will be information booths, weather balloon launches, demonstrations on how to build a pet tornado, a tornado simulator...



Rain Chances Expected to Increase towards Weekend

Looks like a front will try to make to SE Louisiana on Sunday. Rain chances will slowly increase Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with the front, This front may actually sneak through bringing less humid air by Monday & Tuesday.

Until then, 20% chance for isolated showers or thunderstorms Wednesday & Thursday with highs in the upper 80s.

Some wind damage reported north of the lake in Poplarville and Franklinton. Hail reported in Vacherie. All Watches have expired or canceled.

Rain Chance overnight at 10% and very mild and muggy with lows in the low 70s. Warm and humid for Tuesday with highs in the mid 80s and rain chance at 30%

Getting hotter the rest of the week as rain chances decrease. We will be around 90 degrees over the weekend.

Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 4pm

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the northshore until 4pm. A broken batch of showers and storms is currently affecting the area. This complex of storms has has a history of producing marble-sized hail in the McComb area in southern Mississippi.

Low Rain Chances, but not Zero Rain Chance

Even though rain chances over weekend will be 10-20%, it doesn't mean that there may not be a shower or thunderstorm around. There will be very few of them so most of us will not see rain this weekend.

Clouds & sunshine both Saturday & Sunday with highs in the mid 80s and plenty of humidity. Saturday's rain chance at 10% with winds S 10-18 mph. Sunday's rain chance at 20% with winds S 15-20 mph.
