Stormy Then Turning Colder

Saturday morning before 6am there is a chance 30% for spotty showers or thunderstorms. Staying breezy, mild, and muggy overnight. Lows in the mid 60s.

Saturday morning from 6am to 2pm at 50% for scattered showers & thunderstorms..some may be strong. After the front comes through, windy and turning cooler. Highs will be early then temperatures could be in the upper 50s by late afternoon.

Venus & Crescent Moon

This evening, Feb. 27th, the 10% crescent Moon will glide by Venus, forming a gorgeous and mesmerizing pair of lights in the sunset sky. Moon-Venus conjunctions are not unusual.

Venus is at maximum brightness: magnitude -4.6. The planet is twenty times brighter than Sirius, the brightest star in the sky. It is so luminous that it can actually shine through thin clouds and cast subtle shadows on the ground.

Warm Then Cold Again

Warm weather expected again on Friday with windy conditions. Rain chance will be 20% for an isolated shower or thunderstorms. Highs will be around 80 with the records at both Armstrong and Audubon 83.

Friday night into Saturday morning showers and thunderstorms could accompany a cold front. There is a chance for some thunderstorms to be severe. Colder weather moves back in Saturday afternoon into Sunday.

Some heavy thunderstorms were on the northshore Wednesday evening. Hail was reported near Poplarville. Not much rain fell on the southshore.

Breezy and cooler for Thursday. Chilly parade weather Thursday evening with temperatures falling from the 50s to the 40s.

It still appears that showers and thunderstorms will develop and move in this evening and overnight. Some thunderstorms may be strong to severe north of the lake. The chance for rain/thunderstorms is 40% through 8pm, then 60% until 2 or 3am. Be on alert for strong thunderstorms by keeping it to wwltv.com or Channel 4.

Still looks like Wednesday evening's parades still have a threat of showers or thunderstorms. Rain chance remains at 50% for afternoon and early evening showers or thunderstorms. Breezy, very mild and muggy for Wednesday with highs in the mid 70s and evening temperatures in the 60s.

Thursday behind the front will be breezy, less humid, and cooler with plenty of sunshine. Lows will be in the 40s north of the lake and low 50s s...

If there is another somewhat lull in the rain activity, it may come during the evening hours. I would estimate that the evening parades may have less rain around than the late morning/early afternoon parades. Lows mid 60s and highs low 70s. Evening temperatures in the 60s.

Wet Weather Returning

Beautiful Thursday weather is going away. Rain will return for Friday and unfortunately for the parades also.

Rain chance from midnight to 7 a.m. will be 20%. Beginning at noon Friday, the rain chance jumps to 60% for scattered showers as rain begins to move into the area. Wednesday's rain is gone and slightly drier air is moving in. Overnight lows into Thursday morning will be chilly in low 40s north of the lake and upper 40s to low 50s south of the lake. Mostly clear, mild, and low humidity for Thursday with highs around 70.

Rain chances go back up Friday to 50% threatening evening parades.

Cub Scout parade in Metairie Saturday morning, Bilge in Slidell, and Krewe du View in New Orleans Saturday evening all look good. Highs Saturday in the low 70s and 60s in the evening. Breezy conditions also for Saturday under Partly Cloudy skies.

Sunday has Little Rascals in Metairie and Perseus in Slidell. Breezy, mild, and muggy. There may be some morning fog. Lows in the 50s & highs in the mid 70s.

Take full precautions north of the lake including wrapping exposed pipes. Low to mid 20s expected overnight/Thursday morning. South of the lake including the city of New Orleans, protect plants, pets, and people. Pipes will be ok south of the lake. Upper 20s to low 30s expected.

A light to moderate freeze overnight/Wednesday morning north of the lake and a light freeze in some areas south of the lake including metro New Orleans. Winds will start to kick up overnight and that will add wind chills in the teens and 20s by morning.

Breezy and cold on Wednesday with highs in the upper 40s, but wind chills in the 30s.
