Cold overnight and Friday morning with breezy conditions. Lows north of the lake in low to mid 30s with a light freeze, but it may feel like 20s with wind. South of the lake in the upper 30s and too it may feel like 20's.

Lots of sunshine, breezy, and chilly for Friday afternoon. Highs in mid 50s, but it may feel like 40s with winds.

Nice for Saturday.

Cooler Weather

Wednesday morning's rain was around a quarter of an inch or less over the area. The highest temperatures were after midnight in the mid 60s with temperatures holding in the 50s all day.

Overnight cold lows north of the lake in the mid 30s and south of the lake in the upper 30s to low 40s.

Thursday will see clouds & sunshine and cool afternoon highs in the upper 50s.

Goodbye Mild Temperatures

After midnight, a 30% chance for spotty showers with some fog before the front. Cold front expected around morning rush time. By 6am, rain chance around 60% for showers and light rain. It will also start to turn breezy and feel chilly. The warmest temperature for Wednesday will be right after midnight tonight around 63. 50s in morning, then temperatures holding then falling through the 50s, feeling like 40s during the day.

Fog could return Monday evening through Tuesday morning. Some spots it may be dense especially near the waterways. It will be cool Tuesday morning with lows in the mid to upper 50s. Milder temperatures for Tuesday afternoon with mid 70s and a 10% chance for showers. It will also be breezy and muggy.

Cooler Weekend

A front will be moving through on Saturday bringing a chance for some morning fog and a 50% chance for morning and afternoon showers or even an isolated thunderstorm. Highs will be in the mid 60s.

Even cooler for Sunday with 40s for lows on both sides of the lake and highs only in the upper 50s. There will still be a 20% chance for light rain or drizzle with mostly cloudy skies.

A nice recovery Thursday with temps in the mid to upper 60s.

Chilly Friday morning with 40s north of the lake and low 50s south of the lake. No frost or freeze Friday morning. There maybe some light fog, but not a problem.

Mid 70s and breezy and a little more muggy Friday afternoon.

A light freeze is expected north of the lake with upper 20s to low 30s. South of the lake in the upper 30s.

A Hard Freeze Warning north of the lake with lows expected to drop to 20-25. Take full precautions including protecting exposed pipes. South of the lake a Light Freeze Warning for lows in the upper 20s to low 30s. Pipes will be ok, but protect plants and pets in the city as well as all areas south of the lake.

Less wind for Wednesday with highs in the low 50s.

Enjoy a Saturday with lots of sunshine and cool highs in the 50s. Overnight the chance for rain increases to 30% after midnight. Chilly lows Sunday morning with 40s north of the lake and low 50s south. There will be a 50% chance for scattered showers Sunday morning and early afternoon with highs in the mid 60s before the front comes through. We will be left with a Martin Luther King day with sunshine, breezy, and chilly conditions. ...

One more cold, cold night before a brief warm up.

Another hard freeze only for MS counties with low to mid 20s expected Saturday morning. Protect the pipes again north of the lake. South of the lake in the low to mid 30s, a light freeze. Pipes will be ok.

Highs on Saturday in the mid 50s.

Warmer on Sunday with a 50% chance for showers. Lows in the 40s & 50s and highs in the 60s.

Winds will continue to increase Thursday evening and overnight with arctic air. Wind chill advisory for north of the lake as wind chills will drop to the teens overnight. (Wind chills have no bearing on pipes. Wind chills are just for people because of how strong is the wind, the faster the heat that is let off by our bodies is blown away from our skin. That is why it feels colder than actual air temperatures.)

Still cold tonight, but Friday and Saturday mornings will be the coldest.

Arctic air coming during day Thursday to bring cold windy conditions Friday.

It will be breezy all weekend. Saturday's rain chance is at 60% from late morning through early evening. There maybe scattered showers or thunderstorms with a front coming. It will also be warmer than normal with highs in the mid to upper 70s.

Colder air comes in Saturday night and Sunday. Lows mostly in the 40s, but it will feel like 30s. Highs in the 50s and it will feel like 40s.

The Pontchartrain Astronomy Society is having it's 50th Anniversary meeting to be held on January 9, 2009. The special guest speaker will be famous comet discoverer David H. Levy, and his presentation is open to the public.

It is free and will be held at University of New Orleans, Lakefront Campus at Kirschman Hall, Room 122 at 7:30pm.

Warmer Weather on the Way

Temperatures Friday morning will bottom out in the low to mid 50s. A warm up to mid 70s for Friday afternoon with a 30% chance for spotty showers.

Lows on Saturday will be only in low to mid 60s with muggy conditions. Near record highs in the upper 70s on Saturday with a 50% chance for scattered showers or thunderstorms and breezy conditions.
