Nice Break Today..Get Shopping Done

Get last minute shopping done today because the rain returns in full force Sunday afternoon and evening. Santa will need his rain gear. Sunshine and clouds today with highs in low to mid 60's.

Clouds return tonight with small chance for rain. An area of low pressure coming from the NW Gulf of Mexico will spread rain..some heavy back into the area. Rain expected Christmas Eve and tapering off Christmas morning.

Flood Watch Continues...

The Flood Watch continues through Friday morning. More heavy rain will produce additional street flooding like we saw on Thursday. A tornado Thursday did some damage in Marrero.

Severe T'Storm Watch & Flood Watch

A Flood Watch continues for the entire area through Friday morning. Some estimates of 6-8" of rain has falling in areas of Jefferson and Orleans parishes.

A Severe T'Storm Watch is in effect until 10pm for the following parishes Ascension, Assumption, Lafourche, Livingston, St Helena, St James, St John, Terrebonne, and areas to the west including the Baton Rouge and Lafayette areas.

Pattern Change Here

With today's rain, the change in our weather pattern has started to change. Not much fog this morning was the first change. Now rain across the area the second change. The rain will be with us through this evening overnight, and on Friday as well. At times the rain may be heavy with a few thunderstorms possible. Some Fog, but No Advisory

There may be some patchy dense fog, but so far no Dense Fog Advisory has been issued. Some slightly drier air is trying to make it's way into the area and by morning, the winds may be up a bit more to keep fog from being a big problem.

A change in the weather pattern will spell rain chances, colder weather, and more wind the latter part of the week into the Holiday Weekend and on Christmas Day.

Dense Fog Advisory

Dense fog advisory again until 10am Tuesday morning. Take it slow and use the low beams. Fog may be a problem Wednesday morning as well. Wednesday's forecast has a 20% chance for a shower. That rain chance increases to 40% on Thursday. A front on Friday will bring a 70% chance for thunderstorms and bring a chance in the weather pattern. More rain and cooler weather will be around over the Holiday Weekend into Christmas day.

Not much change..once the fog burns off and depending on how soon it does this Saturday morning..high temperatures could reach the upper 60's or low 70's. Fog could return this evening and Sunday morning.

Foggy Start

Fog again slowed traffic Thursday morning. It will be slow to burn during the morning hours. Sunshine is expected once the fog burns with temperatures in the low to mid 70's today.

No cold air in sight. These few days of shopping will not feel like the Holiday Season with temperatures above normal.

Winter officially begins next week, but it will still feel like a warm fall with highs in the 70's the rest of this week and into the weekend. Our normal temperatures for this time of year are in the 40's in the morning and mid 60's in the afternoon.

Rain ahead of the front is moving through the area. It may clear around 4pm. Fog may return overnight tonight and be dense in spots.

It will remain mild through the next 7 days with this Pacific air mass coming through. Put the winter coats away for now.

One More Hard Freeze

Friday morning Audubon broke a new record when the low reached 29. The old record was 30 set way way back in 1882. Baton Rouge tied a record low at 24. The low at Armstrong Int'l reach 29, 2 degrees away from the record of 27.

Again a Hard Freeze for Saturday morning with low to mid 20's north and west of the lake. Take full precautions again. South of the lake expect again a Light Freeze with upper 20's to low 30's. Not as muc...

Cold Coming Right Back!!

A front will come through Thursday morning with a 10% chance for a shower. Cold air will come back into the area in the afternoon and the winds will increase again. Morning lows will bottom out around 40 north of the lake and around 47 south of the lake, but may level off in the low 50's by morning. Highs on Thursday afternoon will remain in the 50's, but with the winds it may feel like 40's.

Look for a light freeze north of the lake Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday morning. Protect plants, pets, and people. South of the lake no freezing temperatures expected, but protect pets and people.
