A Summerlike Weekend

It will feel more like summer this weekend with humid conditions returning. There is a question mark for Saturday in terms of rain. We are going with a 20% chance, but don't be surprised to see a few showers around. Highs will get into the mid 80's.

Sunday will be humid also with a 10% chance for a shower. Highs will be in the upper 80's.

Later today, TD 9 may become our 9th named storm. In an average year, we usually get 11 named storms. We still have to the end of November for the end of hurricane season. The updated forecast was for 13 named storms.

Tropical Depression number 9 forms in the Atlantic 810 miles ESE of Bermuda. This system may become tropical storm Isaac and will continue on a track similiar to the previous storms staying east of Bermuda and not affecting the U.S.

Another Front Coming

Warm mid 80's expected for today and Thursday. Another front is coming for Thursday and cooler air will follow. Highs on Friday will remain in the 70's as the dry air continues to come south. There is a slim rain chance Thursday at 10 to 20% at most. The next chance for rain after Thursday will be another slight chance on Sunday.

Even though Saturday is the 1st full day of Fall, it won't feel like it!

Hot, Humid, & Breezy for Saturday. Rain chance at 40% for mainly afternoon and early evening thunderstorm. Highs around 90.

There may still be a 40% chance for thunderstorms at the start of the Tulane vs LSU game Saturday evening in Baton Rouge. Once the sunsets, rain chances should diminish to 30%. Game temperatures in the 70's and humid.

It will feel like Fall today and tomorrow as Fall begins Friday night. It won't last long as the humidity and the chance for rain returns Friday and over the weekend. Another front is expected on Sunday.

Look for 50's again tomorrow morning north of the lake and 60's south with highs in the low to mid 80's.

Lisa asks, "I was wondering if we will actually have a fall this year? Seems possible since there is a couple of cool fronts."

Lisa, this is certainly a good sign, but may not always be the case. Fall begins on the 22nd of September. Since we are dealing with an El Nino event in the Pacific, usually our winters are cooler and wetter than normal during these periods of warmer than normal Pacific waters. Maybe there will be more coole...

You can certainly feel the difference in the air. Lower humidity and plenty of sunshine for today and Friday. Highs in the mid to upper 80's. Comfortable lows overnight tonight in the low to mid 60's north of the lake and lower 70's south of the lake.

With the cold front passing through, drier air overnight will filter in. There is still a chance for a coastal shower or thunderstorm. Mostly clear skies expected for Thursday with low humidity and lows in the 60's north of the lake and lower 70's on the southshore. Highs in the mid to upper 80's.

Storms before the Dry Air Comes In

A severe thunderstorm warning for Washington parish and Pearl River County until 6pm. Small hail could be with this thunderstorm. Scattered showers or thunderstorms will be around this evening and spotty overnight before the front comes through. A lingering 20% chance for Wednesday, but dry air will be filtering in. A nice Thursday & Friday with sunshine, dry air, and warm temperatures will last for a couple of days.

We have to wait another day with the possibility of more showers and thunderstorms tonight and Tuesday. A front is coming through Tuesday night/Wednesday morning bringing in more dry air for a nice end of the week. Rain chance Tuesday around 70% with some downpours possible. 50% Tuesday night and 20% Wednesday morning.

Still some shearing going on with Florence. Hurricane center having a hard time finding the center, but is locating it at 19.6N 52.5W or 700 miles east of the northern Leeward Islands. Winds are at 50 mph. Florence may become a hurricane on Friday and a major hurricane on Sunday. Computer models still indicate that Florence will turn north before reaching the Eastern U.S.

Florence is trying to get better organized, but may still take another day to do so. Winds are now up to 50 mph with a slower W/NW movement at 9 mph. It still appears today that Florence will gain strength late this week into the weekend and will become a major hurricane. An upper trough of low pressure is still expected to turn Florence more to the north by Sunday and Monday. This may be enough to spare the Eastern United States. Interes...

Upper level shear still affecting Florence's development. We should see intensification to a hurricane in about 2 days. Maximum sustained winds are 45 mph. The position is 17.7N 49.5W. Movement is still W/NW 12 mph.

The Hurricane Center indicated that it was hard to locate the center of TD #6. It is encountering some dry air and strong shear. This may continue for the next 2 days and will hamper any rapid development. After the next 2 days, this system may intensify and become a major hurricane as it heads towards the direction of Florida. The forecast can still change between now and the end of the coming weekend. We have a long time to watc...



TD 6 and Monday Weather

As of 4pm, TD #6 has not become Florence yet. There is still some shear going on due to a large upper trough to the north of TD #6. It could still become Florence tonight or tomorrow.

There is also a strong wave behind TD #6 to be watched. There is also an upper level low and surface trough over the area of the Bahamas. No development from this system yet, but will also be watched.

Tuesday's weather will bring only a 20% ...



Tropical Depression #6

Tropical Depression #6 developed this Sunday afternoon. It will more than likely become Tropical Storm Florence on Monday. It will remain out in the Atlantic for the week and by Friday may be heading towards Florida. We have plenty of time to watch this system.
