A hot & humid weekend is expected with rain chances about 20% each afternoon. Even though rain chances are low, if a thunderstorm does develop, it may produce frequent lightning and heavy downpours. Highs will be in the low to mid 90s with the heat index 95-100.

The Louisiana Department of environmental quality is forecasting an OZONE ACTION DAY for Friday, July 18 for Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. John, St. Tammany, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes. The weather conditions will be favorable for the formation of ozone.

Rain chances are decreasing as drier air is moving in overnight and Tuesday. It will be less humid, but still hot. Any rain chance will be around 10% and confined to coastal areas.

A weak front is moving through this Monday afternoon. We've had severe thunderstorms in St Charles and Tangipahoa parishes today. Still some strong thunderstorms are possible until after sunset. Drier air will move in overnight and it will be less humid, but still hot the next 2-3 days. Any thunderstorm activity will be confined to the coastal areas.

Look for very little thunderstorm activity this weekend with highs in the mid 90s. Some places may even see some upper 90s. Any rain chance will be around 10-20%. Just a reminder, even though rain chances are low, any thunderstorm with the heat we will see can become strong.

An Urban Flood Advisory was issued for St Tammany parish until 11:45pm for a heavy thunderstorm around Mandeville/Abita Springs. Rainfall estimates of 3" may have fallen possibly producing street flooding.

Rain Chances will be 20% for Friday and 10% over the weekend. Highs will be in the mid 90s over the weekend.

Rain chances will be going down over the next few days and that means high temperatures will be going up. Low to mid 90s on Friday with a 20% chance for isolated thunderstorms. 10% chance over the weekend with mid 90s and some places may even see upper 90s.
