« Heat & Humidity Still Here Through Sunday, Watching The Tropics |
Main
| Tropical Wave Not As Organized »
A Heat Advisory now has been extended across the entire area through early Monday morning. With lesser coverage of showers and storms today, temperatures area-wide are generally approaching the mid and upper 90's, with heat indicies of 100 to 110. This puts the heat index in the danger zone on the the Northshore and Southshore. Be sure to limit stenuous activity outside this afternoon and drink plenty of water. Also, wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and be sure to check on the pets and elderly. In terms of the tropical wave we were watching yesterday, it now is slowly moving northwestward over the Yucatan and into the southern Gulf of Mexico, but looks far less impressive than it did yesterday. Wind shear and the landmass of Mexico have really taken their toll on the disturbance. Right now, any disorganized thunderstorm activity is removed from the weak center of circulation and development, which is now pinned at less than a 30% chance, will be slow, if any. Wind shear again is expected to increase over the system during the early week, hampering any real chances of the system reorganizing. |
