The dewpoint temperature, (which measure the moisture in the air), has dropped 30 degrees since yesterday. Expect clearing, windy and cooler temperatures today. Upper level winds are transporting cold Artic air into the region... this will possibly drop temperatures below freezing on the northshore Tuesday morning. ...Rainfall continues across the area as a cold front slowly advances across Southeast Lousiana. Most of the rain this afternoon will be light, however a few cells moving in from the Gulf of Mexico could be heavy, producing locally heavy rainfall and lightning. Besides rain, we will see overcast skies through Sunday morning, until upper level winds push the front East, and cooler, drier air pushes into the region. Currently, the cool air ... As of noontime, Hurricane Paloma is a Category 1 hurricane. Winds have increased to 90 mph and it is located near the Cayman Islands, with a movement to the NNE at about 6 mph. The storm is forecast to affect Cuba this weekend, perhaps as a major hurricane, then push over the Bahamas into next week. This storm will not have any affect on the Gulf South. ...This morning Paloma is packing a punch as a Category 1 hurricane. A front is coming for Friday between Noon & 3pm. There may be some thunderstorms..maybe strong.
