Weather looks good for the Tulane/LSU game Saturday evening in Baton Rouge. Tailgating weather in the 70s, kickoff in the mid 60s, and in the upper 50s by 4th quarter. ...Nothing to be scared of weather-wise today...we have wonderful weather! Sunshine will help warm us to the lower 70s today, and no rain is expected. Tonight, as the sun sets, temps will fall into the 60s for trick-or-treaters. If your Halloween plans take you late into the night, bring along a sweater or jacket, as overnight temps will fall into the 50s and 40s (Northshore)
Mild weather will continue for weekend. Don't forget to check the batteries in your smoke detectors and set your clocks back 1 hour Saturday night/Sunday morning. ...After a chilly morning, temps will warm up to the upper 60s/lower 70s today. High pressure is still controlling our weather, so that means very few clouds and no rain. Halloween is looking delightfully mild with no spooky weather to speak of. 40s & 50s Friday morning with highs in the mid 70s. Mild 60s for Halloween evening and not that much humidity yet. ...Another chilly October morning! The warm up will begin tomorrow: one more morning of patchy frost on the Northshore, and then 70s for highs Thursday through the weekend. Frost may be a problem Wednesday morning north of the lake. ...A front is moving through Louisiana this morning, and behind it winds are increasing, and temperatures are decreasing. In fact, it is going to be the coolest day we've seen around this Fall season! Highs today will only be in the 60s, and lows tonight will be in the 30s and 40s! Pull out the heavier jackets, you'll need them tomorrow! ...After a gorgeous weekend, another cold front will be moving through the area... bringing windy and cool conditions to the forecast area on Monday. Highs in the mid 70s on Thursday then low 70s on Friday. It will also remain breezy through Friday. ...With winds switching to off the Gulf, dew points are on the rise this morning. We already have dew points in the low and mid 60's, and they will continue to rise this afternoon. Higher dew points means extra moisture in the air, equating to a better chance of rain, accompanied by a more uncomfortable feel. An area of disturbed weather will be watched in the western Caribbean Sea for possible development. If any development would occur movement will be towards the eastern Gulf of Mexico. ...As a cold front approaches from the west, we'll see our comfortable dew points give way to more muggy readings back in the 60's Wednesday and THursday. Lows will be in the 50s and 60s and highs in the 70s. ...The last advisory for TD 16 was issued last night, so that system is weakening today and tomorrow. Hurricane Omar has left the Caribbean Ocean, and is moving into the Atlantic. It is a strong Cat 3 storm, with winds of 125mph. The good news is that it will now leave any land areas behind, while gradually weakening over the Atlantic. Meanwhile, back in Louisiana, we're still awaiting a cold front. The weekend looks great with low humidity and plenty of sunshine. Hurricane Omar will threaten the Virgin Islands overnight. TD 16 moved inland in Honduras and never reached hurricane strength. ...Omar is now an 85mph hurricane, as of the 10pm advisory last night. Omar's movement has been a bit erratic over the last 24 hours, and it is drifting around in the Eastern Caribbean. The storm is expect to pick up speed as it heads to the Northeast, possibly bypassing Puerto Rico, but bring heavy squalls to the Virgin Islands. Over the next day or two, Omar will be entering the Atlantic, and moving away from land. T.D. 16 is still hug...

We now have Tropical Storm Omar (formerly T.D. 15) in the Eastern Caribbean, and T.D. 16 in the Western Caribbean (near Honduras) Omar is still forecast to drift over Puerto Rico, and then head into the Atlantic Ocean, possibly becoming a hurricane in the next few days. Omar does not look to be a threat to the U.S. T.D. 16 is hugging the Honduran coastline, and will be moving... Nana is rapidly losing steam this morning, and the NHC has issued their last advisory on Nana as it is expected to become a remnant low in the next 24 hours. TD 15 is still in the Eastern Caribbean, and is drifting towards the Northeast. Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands will see a day or two of heavy rain, before the storm will head Northeast into the Atlantic.This storm is expected to become "Omar" as first a tropical storm, and the... In the both the Atlantic and Caribbean, tropical depressions remain. T.D. Nana will likely be seeing its demise over the next 24 hours with a conversion to a remnant low. Right now, it remains over the central Atlantic as a 35 mph tropical depression, moving to the WNW at about 12 mph. T.D. 15 is in the central Caribbean and is stationary. It also has winds of 35 mph. The depression is forecast to start picking up a motion to the NE, perh... TD #15 still remains a stationary 35 mph tropical depression in the central Caribbean as of the 8 PM intermediate advisory. It is expected to gradually strengthen and take on a NE motion toward Puerto Rico, perhaps affecting the island midweek as either a tropical storm or a low-end hurricane. Nearly all model guidance then takes the storm out into the open Atlantic Ocean. ...With winds out of the east continuing over the next few days, we'll continue on the warm and muggy side with a few passing showers. As the winds out of the east slacken, showers should become more sparse Wednesday and Thursday. Showers and storms will return with a cold front on Friday, leaving us drier and seasonable for the weekend. A Coastal Flood Watch has been posted for Lake Ponchartrain and the eastern facing shores of the Gulf of Mexico. Persistent easterly winds will be ranging from 20-25 Kts. Tides may be running 2-3' above normal through Thursday. ...Isolated showers may pop up across the area this afternoon, as the moisture content near the surface continues to pile up. With the extra cloud cover, afternoon highs may not be nearly as warm as Saturday. High pressure set up over the Northeast is creating an easterly wind flow over our region the next few days, and also blocking an area of low pressure from moving in our direction. In the tropics: an area of showers ... High pressure lodged over the East Coast will dominate the 7-day forecast. Air circulating around this high will bring increasing moisture into the region, allowing for a 40% chance of showers Monday through Wednesday of next week. It formed during the mid-morning and as of 1 PM, has winds of 35 mph and a movement to the W at 10 mph. The storm will possibly become Tropical Storm Marco over the next 24 hours, but should continue its westerly trek into the east coast of Mexico near Veracruz with no threat to us here on the U.S. Gulf Coast. ...Lots to talk about this morning! A very slim chance for a shower on Sunday at 10%. Weather shouldn't be a problem for Election Day Saturday. ... Early this morning, temperatures were in the lower 50s on the Northshore. This is the coolest weather we've seen this fall season. Temperatures on the Southshore were a bit milder, with more 60s than 50s. Dewpoints have also fallen into the low 50s this morning, making for a cool and crisp morning commute. A few of you on the Northshore may even need a light sweater for the early morning hours!
