Tropical Storm Bertha still continues on track, affecting the Cape Verde Islands with its outer rain bands. It currently has winds of 40 mph and is expected strenghten, but remain below hurricane status, as it plows its way through the open Atlantic. The storm is still expected to encounter steering wind currents coming from the south and southwest, pushing the storm north, and eventually northeast, away from the United States into next week. Weather locally will be the status quo with some sun giving way to mainly afternoon thunderstorms and highs close to 90 through the holiday weekend. |
