Our Weather & The Tropics Heat Up

After highs well into the 90's area-wide Wednesday afternoon, expect more heat on Thursday once again. Highs in most areas, under blazing sun and just a 10% chance of a pop-up shower or storm, will remain perched in the low and mid 90's, with some of the hot spots once again reaching for the century mark. The saving grace, though, will continue to be the relatively low humidity levels by July standards.

In the tropics, Bertha continues its push into the open Atlantic, moving SE at around 5 mph, with winds of 70 mph, hauling away from any landmasses. We also have our eyes on several tropical waves. One is near Florida. This one appears that it is too close to land to have any chance at development. A second is in the Central Caribbean. This may increase in strength and become better organized, but if anything, appears will impact Central America. A third has just been investigated by Hurricane Hunter aircraft. This has a mass of thunderstorms with it, but does not display one independent circulation (necessary to be classified a depression). This disturbance stands the best chance of development over the next 24 hours. We'll keep you posted!
