Boy... dewpoints climbed to 77 degrees this afternoon. It's hot & humid outside. Meteorologists talk about the dewpoint a lot here in SE Lousiana... mainly because it gives us a lot of information. It's not that important to the viewer with the exception that when it climbs above 65 degrees in the afternoon, generally most people feel uncomfortable. It's harder for the body to cool down, because the amount of moisture in the air doesn't allow sweat to evaporate off the body, and also warm, moist air will actually conduct or transfer heat to your body. Will it rain on Memorial Day? Well, there's a better chance of rain Monday than today. A weak frontal boundary is sliding to the south, that could provide enough instability to generate an isolated thunderstorm Monday afternoon. So, be prepared for that. The biggest change in the 7 day forecast is drier air trying to slide into our forecast area Monday night into Tuesday, possibly lowering the dewpoints to the upper 60s. So, it will feel slightly less humid even though temperatures will still be in the mid to upper 80s. |
