The Tornado Watch that had been in effect for the entire area has now been reduced to only Hancock and Pearl River Counties through 3 PM this afternoon. A Flash Flood Watch remains is in effect through this evening for the entire area. If the atmosphere has not been stabilized by this initial round of morning thunderstorms, it is possible another round of strong thunderstorms could devleop this afternoon. After a warm and muggy day in the 80's Thursday, big-time heat and humidity are on the way for Friday and Saturday. With typical highs for this time of year around 85, we'll be running a good 5 degrees or so above average with highs reaching around 90 on both Friday and Saturday. A Flash Flood Warning is in effect until 8:30pm for N Livingston, NW St Tammany, central Tangipahoa, and SW Washington parishes for 3-6" of rainfall which has fallen and ad... Here's the good news. A cold front is approaching this Jazz Fest weekend. That means Sunday could be rain free and less humid. The bad news: Friday afternoon and Saturday afternoon could be wet once again. A front may take longer to move through so there is also a 30% chance for spotty show... Jazz Fest resumes again today, to humid conditions and warm afternoon temperatures in the mid 80s this afternoon. Rain is not expected today, with only a 10% chance across SE LA. I wish I could say the same for the weekend; however, rain chances are going up Friday and Saturday to 50%, with some heavy rain showers possible.
