Warm and Muggy...Rain Tomorrow

7:32 AM Mon, Mar 31, 2008 |
Laura Buchtel

It's another muggy morning, with temperatures in the 60s, and dewpoints in the 60s as well! Feels more like summer than the last day of March. We'll look ahead to Tuesday for rain chances, as a front sags southward. Right now chances remain at 50%, and some of the storms could be on the strong side.

More heat and humidity for this week, and temps stay in the upper 70s/low 80s and dewpoints remain high as well.

Not Much Rainfall Deficit Help

12:42 PM Sun, Mar 30, 2008 |
Jonathan Myers

After just scattered showers and storms on Saturday that put over an inch of rain in isolated spots and almost nothing in others, sunshine has returned for Sunday. Therefore, we still sit at a yearly rainfall deficit of almost 8.00" over at Louis Armstrong International Airport. On the bright side, weather to wrap up the PGA championship round at the TPC has been a little breezy, but rain-free and just plain warm and humid.

This afternoon we've been seeing pop-up showers and storms across SE LA. Expect a few passing showers through the evening, with the activity wrapping up later tonight. Even if you don't see rain today, the clouds will be hanging around, and it will feel muggy with dewpoints in the 60s.

Expect a slightly drier day tomorrow, with only a 20% chance for a shower in the afternoon. Highs should once again be near 80.

Rain has been minimal for the past several weeks, and the dry pattern looks to continue. We have minor rain chances on Saturday, at 30% for a spotty shower, and then again next Tuesday we may see a shower or two. We need it too: we have been very dry this year. Here are some of our stats:

March precip: 1.85"
Normal month to date rain: 4.39"
(a deficit of 2.54")

2008 precip: 8.04"
Normal year to date rain: 15.7...

Summertime Pattern

8:15 AM Thu, Mar 27, 2008 |
Dawn Brown

With a high pressure system off to our East, a Southeasterly flow has settled in across the Gulf Coast. With winds pumping in from the Southeast, humidity will be on the rise the next several days. Temperatures will also hover around 80 degrees for the afternoon highs. Saturday, a frontal system will move closer to us, and then remain stationary. This will allow showers and possibly thunderstorms to fire up along that boundary. Currently the c...

We'll only see a small shower or thunderstorm chance for Round 2 on Friday with muggy conditions. The last rounds are most at risk....
