March 2008 ArchivesIt's another muggy morning, with temperatures in the 60s, and dewpoints in the 60s as well! Feels more like summer than the last day of March. We'll look ahead to Tuesday for rain chances, as a front sags southward. Right now chances remain at 50%, and some of the storms could be on the strong side. More heat and humidity for this week, and temps stay in the upper 70s/low 80s and dewpoints remain high as well. ...After just scattered showers and storms on Saturday that put over an inch of rain in isolated spots and almost nothing in others, sunshine has returned for Sunday. Therefore, we still sit at a yearly rainfall deficit of almost 8.00" over at Louis Armstrong International Airport. On the bright side, weather to wrap up the PGA championship round at the TPC has been a little breezy, but rain-free and just plain warm and humid. ...
Tuesday look for a better chance for showers or thunderstorms. ...This afternoon we've been seeing pop-up showers and storms across SE LA. Expect a few passing showers through the evening, with the activity wrapping up later tonight. Even if you don't see rain today, the clouds will be hanging around, and it will feel muggy with dewpoints in the 60s. Expect a slightly drier day tomorrow, with only a 20% chance for a shower in the afternoon. Highs should once again be near 80. ...Rain has been minimal for the past several weeks, and the dry pattern looks to continue. We have minor rain chances on Saturday, at 30% for a spotty shower, and then again next Tuesday we may see a shower or two. We need it too: we have been very dry this year. A 30% chance for spotty showers after dark with rain chances increasing after midnight to 90% or likely for a line of thunderstorms to move through. Emphasis is on colder mornings over the weekend. I am downplaying the Flurry action this evening until just after midnight. The ground is too warm for any accumulations, but there may be a few flakes in the air. Wind chills Saturday morning for early voting will be in the 20s with lows in mid 30s on both sides of the lake. Highs in the low to mid 50s with sunshine. Sunday morning lows around 30 north of the lake with a light freeze ... Sounds crazy, but a snowstorm is expected to hit NORTHERN Louisiana later today and tonight. Parts of the Ark/La/Miss region could see several inches. HERE IN SE LA, we could see a few flurries on the Northshore this evening. It would be very light if anything, with no accumulation.
