A line of thunderstorms and heavy rain has developed over the metro area. With a front stalled over SE Louisiana, and a moisture rich environment, showers could continue to develop along this line stretching from Slidell in the northshore, through New Orleans East down toward Houma. There is the possibility of ponding of water on roadways associated with this heavy rain. This could continue for the next hour or two before the front starts to move and push these showers east. Because of this, the National Weather Service has issued an urban and small stream flood advisory for Jefferson, Lafourche, Orleans, St. Bernard and St. Charles Parishes. Rainfall of one to two inches per hour are possible along this line of heavy rain. Currently the rain has dumped anywhere from an estimated 1/2" over the metro area to 3" to our south. |
