We had 14 named storms, 6 hurricanes, and 2 intense hurricanes. ...Front came through a bit later than expected so fog hung around longer in the morning hours. Drier air is moving in now. Chilly again overnight with 40s north of the lake around upper 40s to low 50s south of the lake. Highs will be in the upper 60s to near 70. Breezy over the weekend and warmer. Morning fog each morning. Highs on Saturday in the mid 70s. Near record highs on Sunday in the low 80s and a 20% chance for rain....

The area is showing signs of rotation as well as damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. Boaters near Terrebonne Bay should seek safe harbor. Otherwise, light to moderate and even heavy rainfall is falling across parts of Southeast Lousiana as a storm system propels itself across the forecast area in the next 12 hour... A large plume of moisture in the Gulf of Mexico is remaining to the South of SE Louisiana this evening... so although we could see some isolated coastal thunderstorms overnight... and light showers overnight, it appears the threat for severe weather Saturday night has diminished. We are still watching for the possibility of some strong storms Sunday into Monday however. ...With warmer air entering the picture in the overnight hours, there is the possibility of some strong to severe thunderstorms between midnight tonight and Sunday morning. A warm front can't lead to enough instability to provide for isolated severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and strong winds. Morning fog possible next 2 mornings with lows mostly in the 60s. Afternoon highs around 80 on Tuesday and 82 on Wednesday with 20% chance for a shower both afternoons. A 50% chance for morning showers or thunderstorms Thursday morning with a stronger front that will bring back some cooler air for a short time. ...We have several storm systems traversing the country over the next several days... but they won't have much of an impact on our area until Friday. A large area of surface high pressure will maintain it's position across the Eastern Seaboard. Since we're on the west side of the high, winds wrapping around the high are bringing moisture back into the region from the Gulf of Mexico. That moisture is bringing in a 20 percent chance of light rain ... It's almost t-shirt and shorts weather for tailgating for the LSU and Tulane games this evening.
