Even though the tropics are quiet right now, a few things point to possible development later in the week. Before I start with the "maybes" and "possibilities" let me preface this by saying there is no development out there right now, and it could very well be a quiet week with no tropics to talk about. However, a couple models have suggested (for a few days now) that something might try to develop in the Gulf or Caribbean by late this week. There are a couple of scenarios: a low near Florida may drift westward, bringing rain and maybe tropical development by the weekend into the Gulf, or a system may develop from a wave currently in the central Caribbean. There is no point in speculating "where, when, whom" just yet...there isn't even anything to look at yet. This is just a heads-up, to keep you informed on what we in the Weather Center will be looking at this week. Let's hope nothing develops and we continue with the tranquil weather. |
