The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for SE Louisiana. Click on blog for more... With actual temperatures expected in the 90-95 range, and high humidity, the heat indices could be between 100-105. High humidity not only transfers heat to the skin through moisture, but it also prevents sweat from escaping from your skin, so the body can't cool down very well. When a heat advisory is issued, you need to take it easy, drink plenty of water, or other non-caffeinated, non-alcoholic beverage, and stay in the air-conditioning or shade. You may also want to check on elderly relatives or neighbors who are more subject to the effects of heat. |
