The National Weather Service reports 3,000 lightning strikes in a one hour period across SE Louisiana from 3am until 4am.

The metro area received from 2" to 3" of rainfall this morning as the storm moved through the area. While reports of flooding came in around 4am, and the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning, the pumps appear to have handled the rainfall this morning.

More thunderstorms continue to develop to our west, expect a 30% chance for showers and thunderstorms today, with the threat of rain diminishing tonight.

Highs in the low 80s.
