A few afternoon thunderstorms are expected today...along with the potential for heavy rain. An upper level low is spinning through SE LA today. This extra energy, along with typical daytime heating, has led to some thunderstorm development this afternoon. A few of the thundershowers have been producing some lightning, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall. The good thing is that they are moving, so flooding isn't a huge concern; but with some locations picking up a quick 1-2" of rain, some streets may have a little water in them for a short time. No watches or warnings have been issued (as of 1pm) but we'll be watching the storms here in the Weather Center, and of course you can track the storms on wwltv.com using Pinpoint Radar or MyRadar. |
