IN THE SOUTH
The year's first monarch butterflies are beginning to
appear. Millions of these orange and black butterflies spent the
winter in colonies in the mountains of Mexico and this week, the
species reenters the U.S. in Texas on their northward migration. Rain
in the forecast this week is good news for the milkweed plants where
female monarchs lay their eggs.
