We may see some strong to severe storms overnight tonight. A developing low pressure system over Texas will move over Louisiana tonight, and thunderstorms will break out ahead of the cold front (which is trailing south of the low). A tornado watch has already been issued for areas west of Lafayette until 11pm tonight. The storms (or line of storms) will likely move through in the early morning hours, around 3 or 4am. We could see a few storms develop ahead of this line, though, so storm chances will increase after midnight. The threats tonight will be strong winds, heavy rain, hail, and isolated tornadoes. The greatest threat should be on the Northshore, although all areas north and south could see storms overnight. |
