TORNADO WATCH/WARNINGS

10:44 AM Sat, Dec 30, 2006 |

Warnings: TORNADO WARNING FOR TANGIPAHOA PARISH
until 12pm. A cell capable of producing a tornado was near Greensburg, moving NE at 40 mph.

A line of storms was visible this morning around Baton Rouge, with a few tornado warnings associated with it. As this front slowly moves through SE LA, the threat for damaging winds and heavy rain will increase for the metro area. We could see 2-4" of rain when the storms move over the area.

We are under a Tornado Watch until 2pm today, for everyone in the viewing area. This means conditions are right for tornadoes to develop, so be alert and monitor the weather through the day.

On that note, Dawn Brown is in the Weather Center, and she'll be briefing you on the weather at the top of the hour on Channel Four, and on I-Weather on wwltv.com.

I'll be posting on the Blog through the day any warnings or significant weather changes.
