Geminid Meteor Shower

Tonight is the peak for the Geminid Meteor Showers. These are spectacular "shooting stars" that occur during the month of December. To see the meteors, go outside after 9pm. Look North/Northeast to view. Tonight, astronomers say you can see 60-120 per hour during the peak.

HOWEVER, Southeast Louisiana is set to see more fog tonight, so if fog develops in your area, it will be nearly impossible to see these showers. Watch our 10pm NightWatch and Carl will tell you the likelihood of fog developing tonight.

Also a reminder that if you go to wwltv.com/weather and look for the link under Astronomy & Space that says Shuttle/Space Station Viewing, you will see the times that you can observe the ISS and Shuttle over New Orleans.
