Severe Weather Next Week?

2:23 PM Fri, Nov 03, 2006 |

Although it is too early to be precise, it looks like we could see some severe weather late next week. Strong storms could move through, followed by heavy rain possibly next Thursday.

It is important to remember that November through early December is our second severe weather season, with some notable storms. One from recent history occured on Nov. 21, 1997. A strong tornado tracked across St. Tammany parish, and damaged many homes and even injured over 40 people.

The severe weather is usually a result of the seasons changing, with cold arctic air diving down and interacting with warm Gulf air. That is why we see it in the late fall.
