How the temperature feels to the average person depends on several different factors, including whether you're standing in direct sunlight, the measure of humidity, wind speed and direction, and of course, the amount of clothing you're wearing.

In New Orleans, the biggest factor is humidity, which can make it extremely uncomfortable in the summertime. In the winter, humidity can also make it feel colder, because the water molecules in the air can conduct heat away from the skin.

In general, the average person feels comfortable between 68 and 78 degrees. In New Orleans, the average high is in that range between mid October and December 1st, and then again between February and mid April.
