Perseid meteor shower

Thanks to his puppy, WWL TV photographer Brian Lukas caught an awe inspiring show of the Perseid meteor shower on the northshore this morning.

Tonight is one of the peak nights for viewing from midnight until dawn. For more information go to skytonight.com. (The weather home page on wwltv.com has a link to sky news at the bottom right hand side of the screen.)

Here's what Brian wrote about seeing the meteor shower:
"At about 4:30 this morning I went out walking my Boxer pup Heidi. It was a clear dark blue morning sky, the stars were visible... all of the sudden Heidi stopped in her tracks and looked up. I glanced up and saw a large bright ball with a white tail racing across the sky traveling from North to South... as it silently raced across the sky, a huge bright orange glow replaced the white ball and trail of the meteor..."
