(PONCHATOULA)---Highlighting what he calls a "very serious ongoing problem in our criminal justice system", Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson says his officers are searching for a Ponchatoula man for questioning in a series of burglaries in the area. He adds that the suspect in question, Carnaiel D. George, no age available, is wanted by the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office on a charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office on additional burglary charges. Chief Layrisson says that when officers went to the residence of George's mother, 46-year-old Brenda George of Springfield, she told them she had no contact with her son since Monday, March 16. The chief adds that when officers noticed what's commonly referred to as a "crack pipe" in the house, George was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. As for Carnaiel George, Chief Layrisson describes him as a black male, approximately six-feet tall, and weighing 175 pounds. He adds that George is suspected of committing numerous burglaries while out of jail on bond and that George is currently on parole for burglary and possession of stolen property. "This is a very serious ongoing problem in our criminal justice system," said Chief Layrisson. "We continue to arrest these serious repeat offenders, and the jail immediately releases them back into our community." |
