(HAMMOND)---What began as an effort on the part of narcotics agents to arrest a Hammond woman on an outstanding warrant led to the arrest of two others, the discovery of another alleged methamphetamine lab, and the finding of three juveniles in the house, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

Tangipahoa Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that 37-year-old Candise Wascom McCarroll of Hammond, 20-year-old Christopher Ray Knight, and 31-year-old Daniel Ray Knight, both of Holden, have been charged with operation, creation, possession of a clandestine methamphetamine laboratory, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession with the intent to distribute methamphetamine, and child desertion.

The arrests came in the early-morning hours of Tuesday, March 3, in the 41000 block of West Yellow Water Road in Hammond. The sheriff says that agents went to a residence to arrest McCarroll on an outstanding drug-related warrant.

When agents were finally able to enter the residence, the sheriff says they found garbage and animal feces covering the floors and chemical smells from the alleged manufacturing of methamphetamine throughout the residence. Sheriff Edwards adds that agents also found two 17-year-old boys and a four-month-old child inside.

The sheriff says that the baby was taken to a local hospital to be checked due to exposure to the chemicals and was later released to state officials, who then released the child to a family member.

Agents also found McCarroll and the both members of the Knight family inside.

Sheriff Edwards adds that Chris and Daniel Knight were both out on bond from a previous arrest back in January, also dealing with drug and methamphetamine charges.

Eyewitness News Northshore Bureau Chief Doug Mouton is in Tangipahoa Parish and will have more details on this story later on Channel 4 Eyewitness News.
