(MANDEVILLE)---St. Tammany public school officials say that Louisiana Attorney General Buddy Caldwell will be in the parish this week to see firsthand how surveillance video cameras are working in a public high school. They say that Caldwell is a proponent of having cameras in schools and believes that the surveillance gear can cut down on crime on campuses. With that in mind, they say that Caldwell will visit Fontainebleau High, near Mandeville, on Tuesday, March 31. The officials say that they hope the state attorney general will learn how the St. Tammany school system is using the cameras as "a tool for operating safe and productive learning environments". They say that Caldwell will meet with Supt. Gayle Sloan and others to discuss school safety initiatives. |
