(SAVANNAH RIDGE)---Firefighters from the Folsom area, on the scene of a brushfire near the intersections of LA 1077, LA 1078, and Stephens Road in the Savannah Ridge section of St. Tammany Parish, now say the fire they have been battling for nearly an hour is under control. Savannah Ridge is located to the southwest of Folsom and the southeast of Cranky Corners. The fire was first reported at around 2 p.m. Radio traffic, monitored from firefighter teams in the area, indicated at the time that three structures were in danger from the flames, and that a nearby barn was also at risk. Radio calls monitored from firefighters on the scene shortly before 2:45 p.m. simply said that they were "making headway." But at 3:02 p.m., firefighters reported that the blaze was under control. There was no word mentioned as to any possible structure damage or injuries. |
