(HAMMOND)---Deputies responding to a break-in call in the Hammond area eventually arrested three suspects, one for the alleged break-in and two others for allegedly trying to come to the aid of the arrested suspect, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

Tangipahoa Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that 39-year-old James Green of Hammond has been charged with aggravated burglary, sexual assault, aggravated battery, and simple assault.

The sheriff also says that 43-year-old Darlene Walker of Hammond was charged with battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

He adds that 23-year-old Javion McCormick of Hammond was charged with resisting an officer.

The original call came in at around 9:20 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, in the 17000 block of E. Park Avenue in Hammond. The sheriff says that when deputies arrived, the victim told them she heard a noise coming from the front porch and when she opened the doorway, Green was standing there.

She told deputies that Green forced his way into the house, began yelling obscenities at her, and started to beat and kick her. The sheriff says that when she dialed 9-1-1, Green left the residence.

When deputies located Green, Walker allegedly told Green not to come outside. Sheriff Edwards says that when Green finally came out and was taken into custody, several people, including Walker and McCormick, came toward them. The sheriff says that Walker grabbed a deputy and continued to resist as she was taken into custody.

He adds that McCormick refused to go inside his residence and, as deputies tried to take him into custody, he ran into a nearby house. When he exited the house, the sheriff says that he, too, was placed in custody.
