(HAMMOND)---What began as a call to calm an apparent bar disturbance led to the arrest of a Holden man, who was wanted on six outstanding warrants and apparently left a teenager in his truck unattended for an hour, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office. Tangipahoa Sheriff Daniel Edwards reports that 36-year-old Jeffrey Christy has been charged with possession of marijuana and on six outstanding warrants, including one for felony theft and five for failure-to-appear. It happened at around 12:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, at the corner of Old Baton Rouge Hwy. and Happywoods Road near Hammond. The sheriff says that deputies were called to a local bar and found Christy apparently intoxicated and refusing to pay for a beer. Sheriff Edwards says that employees told deputies that Christy at one point got angry and wanted to fight. Calming down, though, the sheriff says that Christy returned the beer to the employees. Deputies, though, ran a computer check and found that Christy was wanted on six outstanding warrants. Sheriff Edwards says deputies also recovered a bag of marijuana from Christy's pants pocket. Taking him into custody, the deputies realized that while in the bar, Christy allegedly left his 13-year-old child alone in his vehicle for nearly an hour. The sheriff says the child was turned over to a relative and Christy was placed in custody. 1 CommentsLeave a comment |
