(SLIDELL)---A Slidell man is dead and another Slidell man has been arrested in connection with a pickup truck/motorcycle accident along Gause Blvd., according to the Slidell Police Department. Slidell Police Capt. Kevin Foltz reports that 70-year-old William D. Gunnels has been charged with negligent homicide and failure to yield in connection with the death of 47-year-old Weston J. Burnside, Jr. The accident occurred shortly after 7:05 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, in the 1900 block of Gause Blvd. Capt. Foltz says that a pickup truck, driven by Gunnels, pulled out onto Gause Blvd. in front of the motorcycle, driven by Burnside, Jr. Capt. Foltz says that Burnside, Jr. was struck and killed by the truck's left front bumper. He adds that, at last word, Gunnels remained in the St. Tammany Parish Jail under a $75,000 bond. |
