(KENTWOOD)---A Mississippi man has been arrested and charged in connection with the theft of timber from Tangipahoa Parish, according to Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Dr. Mike Strain.

Dr. Strain reports that 38-year-old Anthony Charles Dillon of McComb, Mississippi, was charged with timber theft.

Dr. Strain says that Dillion was apparently hired to thin-out a 30-acre stand of trees just off LA 38 near Kentwood. He says that Dillon allegedly sold some six loads of the thinned timber product under his name instead of the name of the rightful owner. According to Dr. Strain, the timber was valued at more than $4,600.

Dr. Strain adds that officers from the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and Forestry and the Mississippi Agriculture Theft Bureau joined with deputies from Washington Parish and arrested Dillion on Thursday, July 31.
