| State Police investigating fatal accident on I-12 near Lacombe »
(MANDEVILLE)---Mandeville Police say that quick reaction from officers led to the arrest of an Independence man in the attempted burglary of an ATM machine at a Mandeville bank. Mandeville Police Capt. Ron Ruple reports that 22-year-old Christopher Bellazer has been charged with burglary and resisting arrest in connection with the case. It happened shortly after 1:10 a.m. on Saturday, August 16, in the 1300 block of North Causeway Blvd. in Mandeville. Capt. Ruple says that officers responded to an alarm from a bank ATM machine, with one officer arriving in time to see three suspects at the scene. The suspects fled on foot, but Capt. Ruple says that the officer was able to apprehend Bellazer. Officers were able to recover a welding torch that they believe was being used in an effort to gain entry into the machine. Capt. Ruple adds that the investigation continues, as does the search for the other two suspects. |
