(COVINGTON)---A Madisonville woman has been ticketed in connection with a two-vehicle accident where she was allegedly putting on makeup and failed to stop in time, ramming her vehicle into a sport utility vehicle, according to the Covington Police Department. Covington Police Lt. Jack West reports that 30-year-old Maria Impastato received a ticket for careless operation of a motor vehicle. The accident occurred at around 8 a.m. on Monday, June 30, near the intersection of LA 21 and Marigold St. in Covington. Lt. West says that Impastato told officers that she was apparently putting on makeup when the traffic stopped and she could not react in time. Lt. West says that Impastato's vehicle then hit the back of a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Ponchatoula woman. Lt. West adds that both Impastato and the victim were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Lt. West says that the morning rush-hour accident tied up traffic in the area for more than an hour. |
