(NORTHSHORE)---Louisiana State Police Troop L says it will take part in a statewide and nationwide 4th of July enforcement program aimed at helping motorists arrive safely to their destinations during this holiday weekend. State Police TFC Louis Calato says that federal funding will enable additional troopers to work the roadways from Thursday, July 3, through midnight on Sunday, July 6, as part of the Operation C.A.R.E., or Combined Accident Reduction Effort, program to reduce impaired driving deaths and injuries. TFC Calato says that troopers will be targeting both passenger and commercial vehicles for aggressive driving, impaired drivers, seatbelt, and child restraint violations. He adds that "saturated" patrols will be used in predetermined locations throughout the Troop L area. TFC Calato reminds drivers that if they notice a problem or a potential impaired driver on the roads, to dial *LSP (*577) on their cell phones to speak with State Police personnel. |
